Australasian Aesthetics Educational Conference & Expo AAECE201-BEAUTIFUL YOU
Join us at our biggest & best Educational Conference & Expo yet that will be held at the PALAZZO VERSACE on Saturday June 26th & Sunday June 27th, 2010. I will enlighten you further elsewhere in this Journal about this exciting industry event. Over the past two years the APAA has had to manage frugally to ensure its longevity and this management of the business that is the APAA has ensured that we can now offer you an exciting conference & expo previously unseen in the past two years in our industry.
We are bringing back the APAA National Awards of Excellence for you to enter and be acknowledged by your peers. We are also bringing back our original boutique style of exhibitors BUT YOU MUST BE QUICK to secure a booth as we only have a small limited number of booths available for you. New Look Membership Cards
We are moving ahead without the previous thick Membership cards & replaced it with a heat sealed Membership card that without the bulkiness fits perfectly into your wallet and is very similar to your current Drivers’ Licence. Your membership card still has all the information you need to access your benefits and contact details to the Association. The new look card is much cleaner, more current and is certainly ahead of its peers in its design.
APAA on Face book & Twitter & E-Newsletters
We have created change to move ahead of our peers with the above media information & technology. We have heard positive comments about the currency of the e-newsletter as we are now being requested to resend issues of the first newsletter to members & non-members who have been eager to read our news. Feel free to join us on Face book and blog your comments. We do have a moderator who is reviewing this site so please keep your comments industry specific and we will happily acknowledge your contributions.
Intense Pulse Light & Laser Therapies Modality
The APAA has made a submission to ARPANSA to support industry in its continued use of low level laser as recommended by post graduate providers in this modality. The APAA will NOT see the demise of this modality for its members so that only a given portion of the industry niche can have it as their sole use. We will vigorously lobby the Government to ensure that the industry therapists are still able to provide service in Advanced Technologies to the industry. The Australia Nail Cup
Overseas competitors have already booked to enter APAA’s national competition of the Australia Nail Cup which will be held on both Saturday 26th June and Sunday 27th June this year at the Palazzo Versace. Competitors will be judged in a host of events and there will be a presentation on stage at the end of the two day of competitions for the winners. APAA Nationwide Seminars
We will keep you posted on our nationwide seminars as they occur in your state. The APAA is keen that you take the initiative for your own professional development and attend these seminars that provided for your benefit. Please visit our web site on updates on our seminars in the various states over the coming months.
Teeth Whitening Issue
In the most recent e-newsletter I wrote an article on Teeth Whitening & whether as a Beauty Therapist you should be offering this service. Please realise that the APAA is a standards body, we do not condone treatments offered by the Beauty therapists that is beyond their realm of understanding, qualifications & experience. Be aware that the APAA is not a CONSUMER laboratory whereby we conduct tests on various products & test their efficacy either so that we can advise you whether to use them or dissuade you from purchasing these products. In any service provision to the public, there are some key factors you must ensure are in place:
- Are you properly qualified to offer such a service
- Do you have years of experience & logged successful treatments to show the public of your competency
- Are you adequately insured against malpractice
- Do you have equipment that is TGA approved (if required) to deliver the services you want to offer)
- Are you working within the State OH& S guidelines for the provision of this service
- Do you belong to an industry recognised association where you can show your Code of Ethics and Professionalism to the industry
If you feel you are confident with the above self evaluation then make the decision that best suits your goals & enterprise.
APAA Educational Sponsors Conference

Platinum, Gold, Silver & Bronze…it all depends on you. This is what our CEP program is all about. Would you pay to purchase a membership qualification??? If you paid for your membership qualification, who are you deceiving? How are you judging yourself against your peers? There are many degrees, diplomas and such that are available to you with a click of a button and Paypal BUT your association provides everything you need to know in this business through your membership dollar. On a personal note I want to advise you all that I am back at the helm of the APAA with the support of my wonderful team of Directors and my health is now on a sharp incline of betterment.
